The Adega do Monte Branco project was born in 2004. The foundations are simple: Portuguese grape varieties, authentic wines and respect for nature.

Located in the city of Estremoz at an altitude of 400 metres, the Alentejo region offers unique conditions: diverse soils and more moderate temperatures, which create an individual microclimate.

The soils of Adega do Monte Branco's 26 hectares of vineyards mark the profile of the ‘New Alentejo’.

Vinification: LOU Red 2021 is actually a blend of wines from 2020 and 2021, with 50% Trincadeira and 50% Castelão from two vineyards. It was fermented without stems, with foot treading, pressed after 24 hours and then left to finish fermentation without skins in used French oak barrels, where it aged for a year. 1,100 bottles produced.

The 2021 LOU Tinto is the fourth release of this experimental wine, and in reality, it has a blend of wine from 2020 and 2021, 50/50 Trincadeira and Castelão from two vineyards, one planted in 2018 and regrafted in 2020 and the other one planted in 1993 with the two grapes. It fermented destemmed with foot treading, was pressed after 24 hours and then was put to finish fermenting without skins in used French oak barrels, where it matured for one year. This is the palest of all and my favorite of the reds, with a more delicate and elegant profile that is floral and perfumed. It comes in at 12.8% alcohol, with a pH of 3.43, and it's light- to medium bodied, with very fine tannins and clean flavors, long and tasty. 1,100 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2023.
