Marquis de Terme 2019
Château Marquis de Terme 2019
Château Marquis de Terme is a Grand Cru Classé property located in the heart of the Margaux appellation of the Médoc wine region in Bordeaux, on the so-called left bank of the Gironde estuary. The origins of this wine date back to the 15th century, but its name was given in 1762 by François de Peguilham, Marquis of Terme
Vinification: Manual harvesting with strict selection in the cellar. Vinification in instalments in concrete, wood and stainless steel vats with controlled temperature and gravity filling without pumping over. Cold pre-fermentation maceration, alcoholic fermentation with natural yeasts, pumping over, sulphite-free vinification. Ageing for 16 months in French oak barrels, including 50 per cent new.
Producer's tasting notes: Dark ruby colour. Complex, dense and expressive bouquet, with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and a touch of pepper. Delicious, creamy attack, accompanied by notes of redcurrant, cocoa and a touch of clove for spice. The tannins are dense, powerful and enveloping. This happy balance gives the wine a very silky and delicate side, with great freshness.
Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 33% and Petit Verdot 7%

Aromas of rich black fruits, cherry preserve and pencil shavings introduce the 2019 Marquis de Terme, a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy wine with a broad attack that segues into an ample mid-palate framed by ripe but youthfully assertive tannins. This is a muscular, rather chunky Margaux that will reward a bit of bottle age and which, with time, may make my score seem conservative. This is an evolving estate, as fully 25% of its vineyards have been replanted since 2009. Cabernet on rich soils between Labégorce and Château Margaux represents the core of the blend.
Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Nicely integrated nose. Dense and dry with very good, fresh fruit in the middle. Good impact on the palate, but it’s a young wine with quite a future ahead of it. A longer-lived Margaux than many of its peers. Some tasters thought this fruit was a bit tired.
Este é um Margaux sólido com amoras, groselhas pretas e tons de tabaco fresco e terra húmida. É cheio e com camadas, com uma bela energia e estrutura. Apertado no final, como deve ser. Experimentar depois de 2025.
Features cherry and black currant puree notes with some inner freshness, while black tea, alder and violet hints form a pretty backdrop. Nice steady finish, too. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032. 8,500 cases made.
Strong fruit, dark cherry, also blackberries, mocha. Very powerful on the palate, round and almost a little fat, not heavy, but with roundness and charm. Very good quality tannins. Long, harmonious finish. 2024-2036.
