Pintas Red 2022
Wine & Soul Pintas Red 2022
Pintas Red 2022 is a true Douro wine, coming from 89-year-old vines planted in the Pinhão Valley. It is a field blend of around 40 indigenous grape varieties from the region, combining the rustic character of the old vines with the finesse of French oak, resulting in an intense, fresh and very appealing profile. Its minerality and freshness give it great capacity to accompany gourmet dishes, while always maintaining a refined elegance. Estimated longevity until 2050.
Vinification: The harvest took place in perfect weather conditions on 1 September. The carefully selected and destemmed grapes fermented in a wine press with foot treading for 10 days. Ageing and malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barrels for 20 months.
Tasting Notes: Seductive on the nose, mineral, with pure notes of black cherry, cassis and spices. Harmonious, good texture and long finish. Rich in flavours and refined tannins.
Grape Varieties: Blend of old vines
Winemakers: Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges

Abundant dark fruit with touches of blueberries, delicate violets and graphite on the nose. On the palate it is fleshy and medium- to full-bodied, perfectly balanced by a refreshing spark of acidity that carries through to a clean, bright finish. Supple tannins. This is an old field blend of more than 40 varieties. Versatile and delicately structured. Drink now or hold.
Young and very attractive aroma, already quite defined, with red and blue fruit, shrub, tea and pipe, complex and fresh. The palate confirms the freshest Pintas to date, with red fruit, black berries, firm acidity, enormous balance, very lively, long and extremely enjoyable. Excellent!
The more backward 2022 Pintas has the nose of a dry Port, all violets, ripe plums and aromatic herbs, with plenty of spices, toast and smoke from the élevage in French oak barrels, 20% of them new, for 20 months. It needs time to integrate the oak and polish the tannins. 6,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2024.
Bursting with brambly boysenberry and blueberry fruit flavors and fragrant notes of mountain herbs, graphite and woodsy spices, this fresh, focused red shows concentration and length in an appealing, medium-bodied frame. There's a chalky feel to the integrated tannins, providing fine structure through the finish, which echoes fruit and spice elements, with a salty, iron-laced tang. Classy. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Rufete. Drink now through 2035. 850 cases made, 100 cases imported.
