Niepoort Redoma White 2024 is one of the flagship white wines of the modern Douro and embodies Dirk Niepoort’s vision for fresh, mineral-driven table wines with ageing potential. The Niepoort estate, founded in 1842, has brought the expertise of several generations to this wine, drawing on old vines aged between 40 and 80 years, planted at altitude on schist soils. In 2024, the Redoma displays a particularly precise, elegant and profound expression, awarded 97 points by Tim Atkin.

Winemaking: The whole bunches are pressed. Fermentation takes place in lightly toasted 400-litre French oak barrels, followed by nine months’ ageing with malolactic fermentation. Bâtonnage is very moderate and ends after the first three months, preserving the wine’s tension and purity.

Tasting notes: Tim Atkin highlights the floral and delicately reductive aromas, accompanied by ripe citrus, pear and fresh pineapple. On the palate, it is mineral, textured and highly precise, combining Burgundian elegance with the salinity and energy characteristic of the great white wines of the Douro. The finish is long, vibrant and deep, with ageing potential until 2034.
