Cartuxa Scala Coeli Viognier 2010

Cartuxa Scala Coeli Viognier 2010, from Adega Cartuxa (Fundação Eugénio de Almeida), is an exceptional vintage white wine, produced in limited quantities (around 7,500 bottles per harvest), from the Viognier grape variety, considered non-native to Portugal and chosen by the producer for its remarkable quality in the Alentejo terroir. It is a sophisticated white wine of great intensity, with a very marked varietal character and full expression of ripe fruit. It has a generous structure, creamy texture and a long finish that brings out the specific characteristics of the Viognier grape variety combined with the Alentejo terroir. The result is a refined signature wine, designed for special occasions and long ageing, whose quality control and unique identity explain its status as a benchmark and the recognition it continues to receive.

Vinification: Fermented at a controlled temperature and aged for around 15 months in new French oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing to integrate and stabilise the profile.

Tasting Notes: Visually intense, usually revealing aromas of ripe tropical fruit, fine spices, notes of peach and white flowers. On the palate, it displays full body, unctuousness and an enveloping texture, balanced by apparent acidity and a long finish.

Grape Varieties: 100% Viognier
