Arinto dos Açores Sur Lies 2as Prensas 2023

Arinto dos Açores is an indigenous grape variety, exclusive to the Azores islands. Different from the mainland. When making this wine, Maçanita wanted to give Arinto dos Açores more volume.

Vinification: Made from second presses (2as pensas), which include more salts from the grape skins and therefore a higher pH, although the perceived acidity is still mouth-watering. Pre-fermentation oxidation to precipitate phenolics and obtain a more stable wine. Fermentation in horizontal vats and used barrels.

Tasting Notes (Jancis Robinson): Pure citrus on the nose - absolutely inviting lemon purity, but also the intensity of the place, in salinity. Power and length here, but, says Maçanita, it will seem older and younger. An extraordinary wine, albeit embryonic. (JH) 12%
