Terrantez do Pico 2021
Terrantez do Pico is an iconic white wine from the island of Pico in the Azores. Produced from the Terrantez grape variety, this wine is known for its intense minerality and vibrant acidity, which reflects the island's volcanic terroir. Azores Wine Company's Terrantez do Pico 2021, made by winemaker António Maçanita, is an exemplary example of the quality and unique expression of this wine.
Vinification:
The Terrantez grapes are carefully harvested by hand and vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Alcoholic fermentation is followed by partial malolactic fermentation, which gives the wine more structure and creaminess. The wine matures for 6 months on fine lees, which gives it more complexity and unctuousness.
Tasting notes
Terrantez do Pico 2021 has a bright straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of citrus fruit, tropical fruit, wet stone and mineral notes. In the mouth, it is fresh and vibrant, with balanced acidity and a long, persistent finish.
