Maria do Carmo Red 2015
Quinta do Gradil Maria do Carmo 2015
Maria do Carmo Romeiro da Fonseca led Quinta do Gradil in the second half of the 19th century, turned it into one of the most important properties in the region and built the emblematic Yellow Palace. The best plots of Alicante Bouchet from Quinta do Gradil were chosen to make this wine.
Vinification: Harvested by hand into 15kg boxes, the grapes were sent to our Adega de Charme, where they were destemmed, as were the berries to be used in fermentation. Pre-fermentation maceration for 48 hours, followed by alcoholic fermentation for 8 days in troncoconic vats at a temperature of 25ºC. The wine was aged in 225 and 300 litre French oak barrels for 12 months. After bottling, it aged in bottles for 3 years before being placed on the market.
Tasting Notes: On the nose, notes of wild berries and the freshness of an Atlantic wine stand out. Freshness and acidity very well matched with tannins is what you find in the mouth, great complexity and longevity.

Very deep and serious on the complex nose, which immerses you in ripe black fruit and black pepper, as well as cocoa and cistus. Very textured and full-bodied, it's almost chewy, powerful and seductive, but at the same time elegant, very long and enveloping. A classy Alicante to last for many years.
