Quinta do Carmo Tinto 2019
Quinta do Carmo Red 2019
Quinta do Carmo is located in the Alentejo region, a few kilometres from the city of Estremoz, where there were already labelled wines from the 19th century. The winery was built in a joint venture with the Lafite Rothschild group.
Winemaking: The grapes are picked at their optimum ripeness, completely destemmed and vinified by variety in lagares or small stainless steel vats with temperature control. After alcoholic fermentation, they benefit from prolonged post-fermentation maceration. Ageing in French oak barrels for a year. After this stage, they are carefully blended according to Carmo's traditional profile. Ageing in bottle for 1 year.
Producer's tasting notes: Deep, lively colour, so characteristic of the Alicante Bouschet grape variety. Rich aroma with notes of red and forest fruits, complexed by spicy notes partly resulting from ageing in light and medium toast French oak barrels. On the palate, full, rich in flavour, elegant, long and persistent.

The share of Alicante Bouschet has been rising in the blend (now 55 per cent), with Aragonez and Trincadeira. The wine has a very Alentejo profile, very appealing in its balsamic, spicy and dried herb notes, with just the right amount of ripe fruit. Very balanced, silky and textured, a classic with class.
