Louis Latour Les Suchots 2018
Louis Latour Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots 2018
Louis Latour Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots 2018 is located just above Romanée-Saint-Vivant and La Romanée-Conti, on very similar soils. Maison Louis Latour, a family business founded in 1797 and the largest owner of Grands Crus in Burgundy, produces a Premier Cru of great finesse here.
Vintage 2018
2018 was a warm and generous year in Burgundy, with plenty of light and full ripening. In the best plots, such as Les Suchots, the wines show rich fruit, ripe tannins and solid structure, but also enough freshness and energy for long ageing potential.
Vinification
Manual harvest and traditional vinification in open vats, respecting the classic style of the house. The wine is aged for 10-12 months in French oak barrels from Louis Latour's own cooperage, about 40% new, with medium toasting, which brings elegant wood notes without dominating the expression of the terroir.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby colour. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruits, cinnamon and a subtle vegetal touch reminiscent of ferns. The palate is full, round and very elegant, with silky tannins; the finish is long, marked by notes of liquorice and mint that prolong the freshness. A very classy Vosne-Romanée, perfect for meat dishes and which will gain complexity in the bottle.

Lots of blackberries, mushrooms, oyster shell on the nose, together with hints of spice and smoke. Full, tight and four-squared with a beautifully framed palate of ripe dark berries, spices and dried mushrooms. Very persistent. Try in 2023.
