Iris, hay, woodland berry and botanical herb aromas come to the forefront on this fragrant, delicious red. The focused, vibrant palate picks up where the nose leaves off, delivering juicy Morello cherry, strawberry compote, star anise and tobacco framed in tightly wound, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Drink 2026–2033.
Love the delicacy and the power, the thirst-quenching beauty of this wine, with liqourice root, rose petals and autumnal red fruits. Such depth and quality, spellbinding texture, tannin quality and grip. Classic Cerretta cru, structured and powerful but delicate, needs time in bottle to fully uncurl. The first year on the Place for a wine that was started in 1994 by Davide Rosse, using vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba that had been owned by his family for years but sold to other producers. 6.5ha. Winemaker Andrea Delpiano. Ageing in 25hl or 50hl French oak casks from Fontainebleau forest.
New to the Place de Bordeaux this year. Sweet baked fruit and floral scents on the nose, so expressive and nuanced - it smells divine. Supple, bright and vibrant - you get the mix of crushed velvet tannins giving a mouthfilling texture then the brightness and lift from the red fruit and touches of dryness from the minerality. Excellent definition and character here, supremely balanced and full of life. Just a pleasure to drink. The cleanness / precision comes across more than anything - so focussed. A soft, silky expression with lovely poise on show. It's not shouting but calmly displaying its excellent qualities. Fermentation 25 days in contact with the skins in concrete tanks.
Dried strawberry and tar with some flowers on the nose. Full-bodied and very chewy with sweet berries and tangy tannins at the end. Needs a couple of years to soften. Drink after 2025.
Serralunga d'Alba. Just mid ruby. Compelling, complex and fine with minerals and raspberry with a hint of maraschino on the nose. Suave and elegant and concentrated all at the same time and with beautifully sculpted chewy tannins. Simply gorgeous. Ready now but will hold.
