Giovanni Rosso Etna Rosso 2020

Etna Rosso 2020 is a red wine that encapsulates the essence of the volcanic terroir of Mount Etna, one of Italy's most fascinating wine-growing regions. This label is a true tribute to Nerello Mascalese, the region's emblematic grape variety, which is expressed here with an almost poetic elegance and minerality. It balances tradition and modernity, ideal with dishes such as grilled lamb, mushroom risotto or even burrata with roasted tomatoes. With the potential to evolve in the bottle, but irresistible in its youth!

Vinification: The fermentation lasts some 10 days with daily pumping over of the wine mass with délestages at the half of the period (fermentation in stainless steel tanks).

Tasting Notes: Perfumes: fine and deep in the aromas, introduced by Mediterranean citrusy sensations, followed by violet, bergamot, wet stones, forest leaves and elegant hints of white pepper. Taste: juicy; progressive delicate tannins and vibrant acidity. Neat and savoury finish. Pairings: Wellington style filet, mushroom soup with croutons.

Grape Varieties: Nerello Mascalese

Soft red, beautifully pale jewel-like colour, brings you right into the heart of Etna, transparent and yet intense. Fresh acidity, orange peel, brushed leather, redcurrant. This is distinctive, with subtle intensity that builds slowly, never anything other than easy to love. The oyster shell salinity on the finish speaks of the limestone and volcanic soils. Clings on, sappy and mouthwatering. Harvest mid October, fermented in stainless steel vats, ageing in large sized oak vats. 5.5ha estate, vines planted 1975. Winemaker Andrea Delpiano.

Bright pink flowers, roses and strawberry fruit on the nose. Lively and expressive, fragrant and inviting. Smooth and succulent, a juicy and vibrant acidity on the mid palate with an iron tang, bitter orange and salty, oyster, iron, stone finish that is a touch dry but more mineral than unpleasant. Aspects of peppery spice and dried herbs on the finish leaving a sunny, warm expression. Nice clarity and precision with bite and a spicy tang. 15,500 bottles produced.
