F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Ried Burgstall 2024
F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Ried Burgstall 2024
F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Ried Burgstall Organic 2024 comes from Loiben, in Wachau, from a historic vineyard first mentioned as far back as 1248. The Ried Burgstall vineyard is situated on a rocky terrace above Unterloiben, in a sunny and well-ventilated spot, where soils of gneiss, granite and fine sand produce whites of great precision. The Pichler family has been working the region for five generations. 2024 was a challenging year: a wet winter, a warm spring with early budbreak, late frosts, a hot summer and even episodes of flooding during the harvest. Even so, the vintage produced elegant, pure wines that are very approachable from an early stage, with a particularly well-achieved balance between freshness and ripeness.
Vinification: True to the spirit of the Wachau DAC and the style of F.X. Pichler, this single-vineyard seeks above all to express the terroir. Hand-harvesting and minimal intervention in the cellar allow the vineyard to speak for itself, prioritising clarity, tension and a very clean expression of the grape variety and terroir.
Tasting notes: Greenish-yellow with silvery highlights. Nose: lime, wild herbs, orchard fruit and a subtle hint of orange zest. Palate: slender yet juicy, with a delicate note of mango, a distinct mineral and citrus character, in a precise, light-footed and highly appealing style. The finish is fresh, long and clearly food-friendly.

Nectarines, sliced pears, fennel and juniper berries on the nose of this wonderfully ripe yet cool white. It’s medium-bodied, packing in plenty of concentration, but remaining so fresh, with delicate spice undertones in a long finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Light yellow green, silver reflections. Delicate lime, meadow herbs, fine pome fruit, a hint of orange zest, inviting bouquet. Slender, yet juicy, fine mango note, mineral and lemon, precise, light-footed style, already approachable, offers cool drinking appeal.
