Leroy Bourgogne Rouge 2017

Leroy Bourgogne Rouge 2017 is the red ‘calling card’ of the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, a benchmark in biodynamic viticulture. Despite its modest regional designation, this wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in old vineyards, often at the village and 1er cru level, handpicked to express the elegant and profound style of the maison. 2017 was a classic year in Burgundy, with red wines full of juicy red fruit, lively acidity and fine tannins, very pleasant from an early stage. It has a delicate, luminous and charming profile, with the capacity to evolve in the bottle.

Vinification: Vineyards worked biodynamically, with very low yields and manual harvesting. The bunches are rigorously sorted and fermented in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts, often with whole stems. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, mostly new, and bottled without fining or filtration to preserve the purity of the terroir as much as possible.

Tasting notes: On the nose, fresh cherry and raspberry, redcurrant, pomegranate and a touch of dried rose petals, sweet spice and sous-bois. On the palate, light but deep, with vibrant red fruit, well-defined acidity, silky tannins and a long finish, with mineral notes and a slight hint of blood that invites you to take another sip. A cult Bourgogne Rouge, perfect for roast poultry, mushroom dishes or simply to be enjoyed on its own.
