Vinha das Penicas White Old Fashioned 2020
Vinha das Penicas White Old Fashioned 2020
Vinha das Penicas White ‘À moda Antiga’ was born in Terras de Sicó in Beira Atlântico, by the hands of Alberto Almeida. It comes from centuries-old old vineyards and is a very aromatic wine. As well as being fresh and structured, it has a long, complex finish. A wine with great gastronomic aptitude. Dishes that are structured in their preparation or long-aged cheeses and sausages.
Vinification: Fermented for 12 days in an open press using the tanning method with indigenous yeasts. Ageing: Cement tanks and used French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by more than two years in the bottle.
Tasting Notes: Aroma with hints of orange blossom, loquat, peach, nectarine, white pepper, honey, chalk and a slight salinity. Hints of chipped stone and notes of tea. The palate is fresh and structured with a long, tense, complex finish, full of individuality and character.
Grape Varieties: Vinhas Velhas de Dona Branca, Bical, Fernão Pires and Rabo de Ovelha
Winemaker: Alberto Almeida

Less aromatic than the Branco, more subtle, with citrus and cedar. Slightly smoky. Firmly dry tannins and higher acidity. Traditional style that highlights the minerality and the salty freshness. Pure and long. Some might find this severe but I love its arrow-like profile.
