Scala Coeli Verdelho branco 2009
Scala Coeli Vervelho Branco 2009
Scala Coeli owes its name to the Monastery of Santa Maria Scala Coeli, commonly known as the Carthusian Monastery, where the Carthusian monks lived in silence and prayer. It is the result of the best vinifications of each year and in 2009 the Verdelho grape variety was chosen. Produced in granite soil from grape varieties less traditional to the Alentejo, it had its first production in 2008 and has been surprising ever since.
Vinification: In 2009 it was vinified from carefully selected Verdelho grapes, fermented in stainless steel tanks, aged for 12 months on fine lees and periodically racked.
Tasting notes: ‘Beautiful, intense aroma with white-fleshed fruit and lots of minerality. Very creamy and soft centre of the mouth, good fruit and volume, lively acidity prolonging a refreshing finish.’ in Revista de vinhos
