The 2021 Reserva is a blend of 20% each Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, with 15% Tinta Amarela and the rest divided between Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Franc. It was aged for 14 months in 30% new oak (mostly French) and comes in at 14% alcohol. Fresh and fruity, this friendly, young Reserva is a pleasure to drink because of its flavor and sunny demeanor. It’s a wine with modest concentration and less power, seemingly made to drink young, but it tastes great and manages not to be overwhelmed by the new wood, even in its youth. It shows little if any complexity, and it seems unlikely to develop into something more serious, but the price is right for a nice house pour or restaurant wine.
