Dom Pérignon 2013
Dom Pérignon 2013
Dom Pérignon is one of the world's most famous Champagnes, created in 1921 by Maison Moët & Chandon. The name honours Dom Pierre Pérignon, a Benedictine monk who contributed to the development of Champagne production in the 17th century. Dom Pérignon 2013 is an exceptional vintage that reflects the Maison's relentless pursuit of perfection.
Vinification:
The Chardonnay grapes are carefully harvested by hand and vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Alcoholic fermentation is followed by partial malolactic fermentation, which gives the wine more structure and creaminess. The wine matures for 7 years in underground cellars, in contact with the fine lees, which gives it complexity and unctuousness.
Tasting notes:
Dom Pérignon 2013 has a bright straw yellow colour with golden reflections. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of citrus fruit, white fruit, white flowers, brioche and mineral notes. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with vibrant acidity, silky tannins and a long, persistent finish.
Winemaker: Vincent Chaperon, is responsible for the production of Dom Pérignon 2013.

Disgorged in October 2022, the 2013 Dom Pérignon is a charming and elegant vintage for this cuvée. It reveals complex aromas of buttery pastry, spices, citrus oil, almonds, honey and, with aeration, a touch of smoke. The palate is medium to full-bodied, perfectly balanced, with a chiseled and tightly wound profile. The long, cool growing season has brought freshness and a delicate earthy note to the finish.
Perfumed with apple, green mangoes, perfume and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied with a creamy and integrated texture and a subtle finish. Bitters. Botanicals. Intense. Drink or hold.
Tasted blind. Amidst a blind line-up of relatively big name champagnes (La Grande Dame 2015, Moët Grande Vintage 2015, Krug Grand Cuvée), this stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Lusty, guttural, uncompromising. Big, powerfully toasty nose! Here be fireworks. Tiny bubbles, like 3D lace running a matrix through the wine. Clementine, straw, yuzu, kumquat, sharp apples – so much fruit! And then long, hungry, lean savoury lines. Grilled sourdough toast, roasted walnuts. So much here. Very, very long and very, very persistent. This is outstanding. The bubbles are like tiny, glittering jewels stitched into silk. A seriously exciting, serious wine. For special occasions I could almost too easily be persuaded to part with £250 for a bottle of this. (TC)
Vivid acidity and a chalky underpinning make a crystalline frame for finely detailed notes of ripe melon, mandarin orange, toasted brioche and candied ginger in this harmonious Champagne, which is expressive and expansive on the palate, but with a sense of finesse and restraint. Long and creamy on the mineral-laced finish. Drink now through 2037.
Chartreuse yellow, golden tones, with a refined and persistent mousse. Refined toasted aromas, fresh peach, white nougat, a touch of lime peel, very inviting bouquet, candied grapefruit peel and green apple in the background. Good complexity, juicy, yellow tropical fruits, a subtle sweetness, with a mineral core and a fresh structure, nuances of ripe grapefruit on the finish, already well developed and drinking well, an emphatically lively vintage.
