Chateau d'Angludet 2023
Château d’Angludet 2023
Château d’Angludet 2023 is a Margaux red produced by the Sichel family, on an estate that seeks above all an honest expression of the vintage, without excess or artifice. It is a château with its own distinct identity within the appellation, now clearly associated with a more demanding approach to viticulture that respects the vineyard’s natural balance. The year 2023 was hot, but without the stifling intensity of other recent vintages. There was some rain at just the right moments, relatively warm nights and high temperatures until mid-October, allowing for full ripeness and high-quality tannins.
Vinification: Fermented in concrete vats at 28–30 °C, the wine was aged for 12 months, with 60% in barrels and 40% in amphorae; of the portion aged in wood, 35% was in new French oak. The château itself emphasises that amphora helps to preserve purity, clarity and aromatic delicacy, avoiding excessive wood influence. The vineyard is cultivated using Demeter-certified biodynamic methods.
Tasting notes: In the glass, it displays very clean black and red fruit, with notes of blackberry, redcurrant, violet, dark chocolate and walnut, in a polished and restrained profile. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, fresh and precise, with rounded tannins, a creamy texture and a lively, flavourful and elegant finish, leaning more towards finesse and balance than towards heaviness.
Grape varieties: 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 17% Petit Verdot

Fragrant and highly spiced, this is a gorgeous Angludet with an emphasis on raspberry and black cherry fruit, with freshly cut herbs, slate and tobacco leaf. Biodynamic farming, and another low production year for this lovely estate, clocking in at 20hl/h. 60% barrels for ageing, 40% amphoras.
The zesty, spicy edge of Petit Verdot evident on the nose. Juicy fruit on the palate, the tannins polished and fine. Gentle persistence on the finish. Should be good drinking (as opposed to investment) value.
