Wine & Soul Pintas Tinto 2023
Wine & Soul Pintas Tinto 2023
Wine & Soul Pintas Red 2023 is one of the great old-vine reds of the Douro, crafted in the Pinhão Valley by Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges. Made from a single 93-year-old plot with over 40 indigenous grape varieties, it perfectly embodies the estate’s philosophy: to produce small-scale wines with immense depth, balance and a distinct Douro identity. Particularly vibrant, harmonious and well-defined, it combines the wine’s characteristic intensity with remarkable freshness and a very classic profile.
Vinification: An early but very precise harvest. The grapes, previously selected and fully destemmed, were fermented in stone vats with foot treading for 7 days. Malolactic fermentation and ageing took place in French oak barrels over 23 months, a process designed to refine the tannins without obscuring the purity of the fruit and the vineyard’s mineral character.
Tasting Notes: On the nose, intense and precise, with aromas of fresh black cherry, floral notes, wild herbs and a very pronounced minerality. On the palate, vibrant, deep and elegantly structured, with good tannins, great persistence and a complexity that develops over time in the glass. A Douro Red with a serious, sophisticated and highly gastronomic profile, made to impress now, but clearly prepared for long-term development in the bottle.

A classic aromatic profile for this old vineyard, with abundant notes of black fruit and a solid herbal backdrop, India ink and liquorice, Earl Grey tea – all very youthful and compact. An imposing palate, without losing any freshness, with firm tannins; still very young, focused and with immense vigour. A fine vintage!
The creamy, sleek and polished 2023 Pintas is nicely crafted, harmonious and in balance, with power and clout but also elegance and harmony. It's the result from vinifying the field blend of two hectares of 93-year-old vines in lagar, foot-treading the grapes for seven days and aging it in French oak barrels, 20% of them new, for 23 months. It has the telltale notes of wild berries, herbs and flowers, resin and rockrose and a medium- to full-bodied palate with refined tannins. 6,100 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2025.
