Domaine de Baronarques Limoux Blanc 2023

Domaine de Baronarques Limoux Blanc 2023 is the great white wine from the Rothschild estate in Saint-Polycarpe, near Limoux in Languedoc. Born from a high-altitude terroir, this wine asserts its own unique style: elegance, freshness and depth, based mainly on Chardonnay and, since 2019, with a touch of Chenin Blanc to enhance purity, minerality and tension. 2023 began with a mild, dry winter, which brought forward the development of the vines. Spring was warm and humid, followed by an initially cooler summer and a spell of intense heat at the end of August. The result was a very balanced white wine, where ripeness and freshness go hand in hand.

Vinification: The blend is 97% Chardonnay and 3% Chenin, aged in barrels, 25% new, for about 8 months. The philosophy here is not to mark the wine with wood, but to give it volume, texture and precision, allowing the terroir to speak clearly.

Tasting Notes: Pale yellow in colour with green reflections, it reveals a complex and elegant nose, with white-fleshed fruit, candied citrus and white flowers, enveloped by buttery notes, vanilla, honey and toasted almonds. On the palate, it shows beautiful tension, a silky and ample texture, a discreet and very well-integrated wood structure, and a fresh and persistent finish, with citrus zest, hazelnut, subtle minerality and a touch of salinity. A great Limoux Blanc for the table and the cellar.
