Muxagat 'Os Xistos Altos' Branco 2021

Muxagat “Os Xistos Altos” White 2021 is a white wine from the Douro region made exclusively with Rabigato grapes. It displays intense minerality, smoky aromas and elegant freshness with the typical salinity of the grape variety. On the palate, it is sophisticated, complex and structured, supported by firm acidity and a persistent finish — all with great ageing potential. It serves as a modern yet territorial expression of the high-altitude white Douro. Ideal with grilled fish and seafood, white meats and risottos.

Vinification: Hand-picked. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are cooled before being gently pressed. Pressing in an old vertical press, gravity decanting in underground cement vats and fermentation with indigenous yeasts in French oak oval barrels (2,000 L) and cement vats (600 L). Aged for 18 to 20 months before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Shades of yellow and green with a bright appearance. On the nose, a striking mineral and smoky profile, complemented by fresh aromas of flowers and white fruits, as well as hints of juniper (a local plant) and some vanilla. On the palate, the Rabigato grape variety shows salinity and minerality, an elegant and complex structure, with good concentration and firm acidity from start to finish. The finish is persistent and very elegant, revealing significant ageing potential.
