Casanova di neri Brunello di Montalcino 2020
Casanova di neri Brunello di Montalcino 2020
Casanova di neri Brunello 2020 is a super elegant Tuscan red, made only with Sangiovese grapes from different vineyards on the estate, all grown with extreme care. It's the classic style of the house, mixing tradition with precise, modern winemaking. The 2020 harvest benefited from a balanced climate, which allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and fully, resulting in a wine of excellent aromatic purity, refined structure and vibrant freshness. Aged in wood and bottle for the regulatory period of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG appellation, this wine is a true ambassador of the region's terroir and Casanova di Neri's philosophy of quality. Despite being the estate's ‘basic’ label, it displays complexity, depth and great ageing potential.
Vinification: Grapes harvested by hand. Fermentation took place in steel tanks with maceration for approximately 20 days. Further ageing in wood (tonneaux or barrels) and bottle, following the winery's philosophy of precision.
Tasting Notes: Bright, vivid red colour, with a nose marked by mineral fragrances that open up to notes of sour cherry and pink flowers. On the palate, it is citrusy and juicy, with aromas of blueberry and well-integrated vibrant tannins. The finish is fruity, acidic and young, standing out for its freshness and elegance.
Grape Varieties: 100% Sangiovese

Deep ruby with orange tinges. Hints of rosemary over meaty, subdued fruit and the merest suggestion of oak. Lifted, lively sour-cherry fruit with a good bite of tannins on the finish. Lots of juice yet contained on the finish. Can be approached now but will improve.
The Casanova di Neri 2020 Brunello di Montalcino (with the white label) represents a departure from the norm. Because the Cerretalto was not produced, fruit from that vineyard with its reddish mineral-rich soils was directed here instead. For that reason, this wine is especially spicy, lifted and intense. Dark cherry fruit is followed by rusty nail, black pepper and milled spice. The wine is fermented in steel tanks, sees 20 days of skin maceration and ages in botte and tonneaux for over three years. The oak is very well integrated. This is a wine of character (with 98,000 bottles made).
Exhibiting cherry, raspberry, eucalyptus, iron and spice aromas and flavors, this supple red is complex and compelling. Supported by a swath of dusty tannins, yet everything feels in the right place. Excellent length. Best from 2027 through 2042. 8,190 cases made, 3,300 cases imported.
Really delicious fruit with cherry and berry character, as well as a hint of cedar. Creamy tannins and fresh acidity. Grapes from the Cerretalto vineyard are used here this year. Drink or hold.
A deep red/brick color, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino is ripe with notes of black cherries, tea leaves, dark, sappy herbs, and forest floor. Full-bodied, it's ripe and inviting, with a velvety texture and a great warming finish, and while it's a ripe wine, it carries it with a weightless feel and does not feel heavy-handed. It should continue to drink well over the next 10-12 years.
