Quinta da Boavista Vinha do Ujo 2021
Quinta da Boavista Vinha do Ujo 2021 is an exceptional red wine from a historic vineyard planted in 1930, composed of more than 25 traditional grape varieties. This vineyard benefits from a northern exposure that gives the wine freshness and elegance. The old vines are tended by hand, reflecting the estate's commitment to preserving its unique terroir. Ideal with red meat, game or cheese. An authentic expression of the Douro, combining tradition, complexity and elegance!
Vinification: Hand-picked and selected bunches. Destemmed and gently crushed berries. Fermentation in 500 and 600L French oak barrels. After a period of maceration, the wine continues its ageing for at least 16 months in 225L French oak barrels. Sealed with natural cork. It is not filtered or cold stabilised and may have some sediment with age.
Tasting Notes: With an enveloping ruby colour, this wine is immediately appealing on first impact, revealing itself as we swirl it in the glass to bring out its most hidden aromas. With forest notes intertwined with fine spices, it enchants us with its airy aromas of wild fruits. It takes over the palate and reveals its many facets in a subtle and intoxicating way. Old vines (28 varieties). Intense aroma with notes of forest fruits, blackberries, blueberries, pine needles and resin. On the palate, the freshness and elegance of the estate's highest altitude grapes come through, even with its well-present tannin structure, in a long finish with lingering notes of sour cherry, cherry, wood and graphite. A beautiful wine for grilled red meats.
