Quinta do Noval Syrah 2021
Quinta do Noval Syrah 2021 is an outstanding example of the Douro region's ability to produce wines of character and distinction, using the famous Syrah grape variety. This wine displays an intense ruby colour with purple reflections, indicating its vitality and ageing potential. It impresses with its aromatic complexity and depth. The first notes are of ripe red and black fruit, followed by an intriguing touch of black pepper, characteristic of this grape variety. Complementing this profile are delicate nuances of dark chocolate, Mediterranean herbs and a touch of liquorice, providing a rich and enveloping olfactory experience. It is an excellent accompaniment to game meat dishes, roast lamb and dishes with wild mushrooms.
Vinification: This wine is fermented in stainless steel vats for 7 days, followed by malolactic fermentation. It is aged in 225 litre French oak barrels for 10 months, 20% in new barrels.
Tasting notes: This wine offers a pleasant mix of spicy, cumin, strawberry and cinnamon aromas. It's ripe and full, but retains a fresh and delicate quality, with a delicious hint of liquorice in the mouth. The finish is velvety, with subtle hints of oak adding to the overall charm.
