Castello Dei Rampolla d' ALCEO 2019
Castello Dei Rampolla d'Alceo 2019
Castello dei Rampolla is a family-run wine estate located in the Conca d'Oro valley in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany. It is known for its Super Tuscan wines, Sammarco and Vigna d'Alceo. Vigna d'Alceo (now simply called "d'Alceo") is the top of the range in terms of price and was created in 1996 by Alceo's sons, Luca and Maurza, in honour of his death. The wine is dominated by Cabernet Suavignon, with a portion of Petit Verdot.
Vinification:
Ageing for 3 months in cement vats and 12-15 months in Toneis without toast or with medium toast.
Producer's tasting notes:
D'Alceo fully reflects the characteristics of the vineyard it comes from. Intense, warm, refined and elegant. Ripe red fruits combine perfectly with delicate notes of cigar and tobacco - incredible concentration without being heavy. For once, we're not talking about a wine, but the personality of a vineyard planted by Alceo, who couldn't have imagined that he had found the excellent combination of exposure, soil and vines (Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot).

This is a classic beauty. The 2019 d'Alceo, made with 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot, is dark and enriched, but magically, it is never heavy or bulky. It carries its weight with feather-like grace backed by dry tannins and lovely fruit layering. There is blackcurrant, kirsch, blackberry liqueur, exotic spice, black rose and crushed stone. That mineral note stands out like a filigree of shiny silver stitched through the wine's rich, velvety texture. Production is 13,749 bottles and 200 magnums.
Blackcurrants, fresh flowers, and blue berries with sandalwood. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins and a fresh finish. Very fine, focused and bright. Cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. Best after 2025.
Impenetrable, rich ruby-violet. Opens with appealing notes of cassis and blackberries, with some smoke and mint. Grippy, finely meshed tannins at the core, opens up in many layers, dark berryish fruit, still needs a few years.
