Tiara White 2022

Tiara comes from vineyards over 60 years old, planted at an altitude of 600 metres, where the Rabigato variety predominates. It's a fine, light wine with a lot of verve and energy.

Vinification:

The 2022 harvest was the earliest ever. In recent years we have seen greater climate variability and a greater frequency of extreme events with heatwaves, intense rainfall and in some areas severe drought. After selecting the grapes in the vineyard, they were transported in 25kg boxes in a refrigerated lorry. A second sorting took place at the entrance to the winery. The grapes were gently pressed into a stainless steel vat where the must was cold decanted. This was followed by racking to a Foudre, where it fermented spontaneously for around a year (alcoholic and malolactic fermentation), with room temperature control.

Tasting notes

Tiara is an elegant, delicate white wine that reveals the purity of the grape varieties and the acidity of the terroir it comes from. The long fermentation at low temperatures in Foudres over 30 years old, of 1500L - 3000L, makes all the difference! The nose is more exuberant than the 2021, with floral notes characteristic of the Códega do Larinho grape variety, with a base of citrus fruits, aromatic herbs, peaches and other orchard fruits. In the mouth it has plenty of volume and structure, which characterise the 2022. The finish is almost spicy, persistent and prolonged by excellent acidity! This Tiara is a versatile wine that can start and end a meal. For the more patient, its evolution in the bottle will mould its character and contribute to its sophistication and complexity.
