Dow's Vintage Port 2024
Dow’s Vintage Port 2024
Dow’s Vintage Port 2024 marks the house’s return to a classic style following the 2017 vintage, reaffirming the serious, structured and slightly drier style that has made Dow’s one of the leading names in Port wine. The brand’s history dates back to 1798 and, since 1961, it has been part of Symington Family Estates, a family that has been working some of the Douro’s finest estates for several generations. The 2024 is primarily a blend of Quinta do Bomfim, in Cima Corgo, and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, in the Upper Douro, two estates that form the backbone of the house’s great Vintage Ports. The result is a Vintage Port with a classic profile, offering concentration, structure, peppery tannins and the drier finish characteristic of Dow’s.
Vinification: Fermented in wine presses and aged in oak casks, following the tradition of the great Vintage Ports. The selection favours the best wines from the two main estates, seeking depth, colour, tannin and longevity.
Tasting notes: Deep, intense colour. On the nose, it reveals violet, resinous rockrose, graphite, black fruits, chocolate and spices. On the palate, it is linear, structured and precise, with a firm texture, dry and peppery tannins, good freshness and a long, vinous and persistent finish.
Grape varieties: 40% Touriga Franca, 35% Touriga Nacional, 15% field blend from old vines and 10% Alicante Bouschet.

Precise, with a pretty, grainy texture and incisive character. Medium- to full-bodied, long and dimensional. The grainy texture turns saline. Very stimulating to taste. A blend of 38% touriga franca, 34% old vines, 17% touriga nacional and 11% sousao. Drink or hold.
5.535 caixas.
The 2024 Vintage Port follows the previous declaration of 2017. It was produced with grapes from Quinta do Bomfim in the Cima Corgo and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira in the Douro Superior. The blend is 40% Touriga Franca, 35% Touriga Nacional, 15% field blend (vinhas velhas) and 10% Alicante Bouschet. It fermented in lagar and matured in oak casks. It's linear and structured, with some graphite, lots of resinous rockrose, hints of chocolate (classic Dow's) and is slightly dry and peppery, with a textbook note of violets. Dow's are typically brooding, not up front and quite long. It has a lot of grip. It comes in at 20% alcohol, with a pH of 3.65 and 99 grams of sugar, which makes this one of their driest vintages, with Cockburn's, making it long and vinous. I think this is great wine. 66,420 bottles produced.
