This is one of Portugal's great classic whites, heir to a very special history linked to the Palace Hotel do Buçaco. For decades, these wines were almost mythical, served mainly at the hotel and difficult to find elsewhere, which helped to build their aura. Today, it remains a cult white wine, made in a very unique style, where Bairrada and Dão come together in a blend with great personality.
Vintage 2022
The 2022 harvest produced a serious, deep wine with a clearly gastronomic profile. It shows good maturation, excellent tension, and a structure that points to long evolution in the bottle. It is a white wine that, despite its youth, already shows enormous aging potential.
Vinification
It fermented and aged for a year in new 300-liter barrels, gaining texture, complexity, and a noble oxidative profile without losing energy. The wine has 13.3% ABV.
Tasting notes
On the nose, it impresses with its austere and classic character: wax, fine lees, noble wood, spices, smoke, a slight hint of “diesel” and that suggestion of an old cellar that great white wines for aging have. On the palate, it is round, intense, and incisive, with deep flavors, lots of character, and a finish marked by salty notes and an elegant bitterness that gives it enormous length. A Portuguese white of great class, designed more for the table and the cellar than for immediate enjoyment.

O nariz do Branco Reservado 2022 é muito semelhante ao do Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva Blanco, com uma mistura de cera, borras, madeira nobre, especiarias, fumo, gasóleo e adega velha — não há nada relacionado com fruta. É uma mistura de Maria Gomes e Bical da Bairrada e Encruzado do Dão, fermentada e envelhecida em barricas novas de 300 litros durante um ano. É redondo e pungente, com sabores penetrantes, boa maturação e 13,3% de álcool. É levedado e com um toque salgado e amargo no final. Deve envelhecer em garrafa durante muito tempo. Produzidas 9416 garrafas e 306 magnums.
