Herdade da Maroteira Cem Reis 2024
Herdade da Maroteira Cem Reis 2024
Cem Reis Viognier 2024 is the signature white wine of Herdade da Maroteira, an Anglo-Portuguese estate with more than five generations at the foot of the Serra d'Ossa in Alentejo. Linked for decades to the cork oak forest, the estate invested in vineyards from 2000 onwards and made this Viognier one of the region's benchmark white wines. The 2024 harvest shows a sunny but balanced Alentejo: vineyards with very poor, schistose and granitic soils produced grapes with great aromatic concentration, good natural acidity and perfect ripeness, resulting in a full-bodied but fresh white wine, designed both for immediate consumption and to evolve for a few years in the bottle.
Vinification: Grapes harvested manually and gently pressed. The must ferments at a controlled temperature, partly in stainless steel and partly in wood. This is followed by ageing for around 12 months in French and American oak barrels, with bâtonnage of the fine lees, which enhances the creamy texture, mouthfeel and overall complexity.
Tasting notes: Pale yellow colour with citrus reflections. The nose is intense and seductive, combining ripe pineapple, orange blossom, fresh citrus and subtle wood spices. On the palate, it is generous and full-bodied, with well-concentrated aromas, firm acidity and an unctuous, almost buttery texture, lingering on a long and persistent finish, ideal for fatty fish, seafood and grilled white meats.
Grape varieties: 100% Viognier
