Primus 2023
Quinta da Pellada Primus 2023
Quinta da Pellada, located in Pinhanços in the municipality of Seia, very close to the Serra da Estrela, is characterised by its granite soil with lines of clay and sand. The vineyards used to make this Primus are 70 years old with around 5,000 vines per hectare, located at an altitude of 500 metres.
Vinification: After 24 hours of skin contact on the day of harvest, a very slow fermentation followed, first in stainless steel and then in used barrels. It aged for 9 months in cement eggs with fine lees, always topped up, without successive additions of sulphur. It was then bottled and aged in the bottle, seeking excellence in ageing. This wine only went to market after 2 years of ageing.
Producer's Tasting Notes: Fresh and mineral in profile, complex on the nose, with citrus and floral notes that combine perfectly with a strong mineral profile. Tense and vibrant on the palate, with good acidity, it impresses with its lightness despite its excellent volume.
Grape Varieties: 19 mixed grape varieties (field blend) such as Encruzado, Cercial, Bical, Verdelho, Málvasia, Terrantez, Cachorrinho, Douradinha, etc.

A complex white with a subtle nose of white flowers, grapefruit and some citrus. This is very young at the moment. It shows amazing concentration, great elegance and a medium to full body. It’s nervy and fresh. From an old field blend of about 19 white varieties planted at the original Quinta da Pellada winery. At the moment it resists revealing its potential, but after some time in the glass you can glimpse its virtues. An intriguing white that will benefit from a couple of years of cellaring. Drink from 2026.
