Kosta Browne One Sixteen Chardonnay 2022 is a superb white wine from the Russian River Valley, crafted to showcase the most refined and elegant side of Californian Chardonnay. Part of the winery’s Appellation Series, it is sourced from a selection of benchmark vineyards in the region’s coolest areas, where the influence of the Pacific and the fog help to preserve freshness and aromatic focus. The 2022 vintage has produced a particularly taut and refined wine, combining full ripeness with crisp acidity. It is a Chardonnay that displays depth without excess, focusing more on detail, texture and energy than on exuberance.

Vinification: Produced from several iconic vineyards in the Russian River Valley, it was whole-bunch pressed and fermented 100% in barrels, with natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentations. It was aged for 12 months on fine lees in 33% new French oak and 67% neutral barrels, with minimal bâtonnage, followed by 4 months in stainless steel to refine precision and purity.

Tasting Notes: On the nose, it reveals intertwined aromas of citrus, lavender and crème brûlée. On the palate, it is round yet very well-structured, with captivating acidity, a deep texture and notes of kiwi, Meyer lemon and sweet spices. The finish is long, refined and highly food-friendly, confirming the serious and sophisticated profile of this Chardonnay.
