Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2019
Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2019
After the great success of the previous vintage, Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2019 has been surpassing all the scores of the year that led it to be voted Wine of the Year. Argiano is one of the region's historic wineries. Its recently restored villa dates back to 1581. The vineyards are located on a plateau in the centre of the Brunello area, west of the village of Sant'Angelo in Colle.
Vinification
Cold pre-fermentation maceration for about four days, followed by fermentation in steel and natural cement vats at a controlled temperature below 26 degrees for a total of 3 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in concrete.
Ageing takes place for around 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels and French oak barrels of different capacities (10/15/30/50 hl). Bottling in April and May, following the most auspicious lunar phases. Long ageing in bottle.
Producer's tasting notes:
Fresh, complex and fruity nose with hints of balsamic and meat on the finish. The palate is very vertical with strong but silky, well-blended tannins and a distinctive sapidity that makes it very gastronomic.

The Argiano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino comes out stronger than the previous 2018 and 2017 vintages, thanks to the precision and focus of its fruit flavors in this balanced vintage. It shows ample depth and volume, with sweet cherry and blackberry that fold into softly toasted spice and earth. Floral hints of lilac and iris make brief but poignant appearances. Velvety tannins and a nicely concentrated mid-weight palate give good staying power. This is a 120,000-bottle release.
Delightful aromas of juicy red cherries, strawberries, rose petals and wild bush, together with hints of juniper and ground herbs. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and crisp acidity. Zesty and piquant with beautiful balance and finish. Plenty of fruit at the end. Give it more time to come around. Try after 2027.
This is packed with ripe cherry, plum and raspberry fruit, with floral, mineral, juniper and wild herb accents adding depth and complexity. There's plenty of energy and structure as well, providing excellent balance, with a long aftertaste. Best from 2027 through 2045. 10,000 cases made, 4,008 cases imported. –BS
